The Role Of Social Media On Malaysian Voting Trend And Behaviour
Abstract
Before an election, research on voting behavior has become an important element to study the effect of media especially social media on voting decision. The role of social media in delivering and disseminating information is undeniable. The power of social media in influencing voters have been proven by previous studies. Therefore, this study was conducted to understand how social media influencing voters in Selangor. A survey was conducted on 532 respondents on several state assemblies, and from the finding, it indicates that social media play a significant role in influencing voters' behaviour. In this study, social media has played a significant role in influencing the voters. Findings prove that social media had a strong relationship with five items tested in this study. Therefore, the role of social media in managing election campaign for the next coming election cannot be ignored. It must turn into an important tool for contesting party to utilise when running an election campaign. The revolution of the digital world has strongly influenced the way how people making their decision
