Teenpower: An Interdisciplinary Game-Based Mhealth System to Empower Adolescents Towards Obesity Prevention
Abstract
Adolescent obesity grasped epidemic proportions, being critical to find effective prevention strategies. This paper describes the design and development of an interdisciplinary and innovative mHealth program directed to promote healthy behaviors and prevent adolescent obesity. The mHealth application includes educational resources, self-monitoring, social support, interactive training modules and motivational tools. The positive evaluation of the program will stimulate the inclusion of technologies in the promotion of salutogenic behaviors and obesity prevention. This e-therapeutic system can be used by health and exercise professionals in improving community interventions tailored to teenagers.
