The Effect of Proprıoceptıve and Strength Exercıses on Calf Muscle Durabılıty of Dancers

Abstract
In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of proprioceptive and strength exercises on the durability of the dancers' muscles in order to increase the durability of the lower extremity calf muscles they use intensively. 27 dance athletes have voluntarily participated in the study. The participants have been divided into two groups as training and control. The training group applied 12 weeks of training program including proprioceptive and strength exercises as both of the groups continued to dance training. A single heel rise test was used to determine the durability of calf muscles.Data were analyzed with SPSS 21.0 package program. Wilcoxon test was used to compare pre-test and post-test data, while Mann Whitney Utest was used to determine differences between groups. According to statistical analysis result, the exercise group had shown a statistical improvement (p<0.05). As a result, proprioceptive and strength exercises improved the endurance of the calf muscles of dance athletes. This will help dancers to better practice technical movements and prevent ankle injuries. Keywords - Heel rise, Dancer, proprioception, strength training
