Paper Title
Improving Student Engagement In Middle Schools Using Quality Six Sigma Tools

Abstract
Using qualitative data, it has been determined that 6th grade students at most US middle schools are not engaged in their learning. This paper looks at defining student engagement in the classroom overarching the broad theoretical bases of emotions, interest, importance, and self-efficacy. Our recommendations involve utilizing the widely used Ishikawa approach in six sigma methodologies to improve student engagement and reassess teacher-student interactions that foster students’ development of a growth mindset.
