Analysis and Design of a Plasma based Monopole Antenna

Abstract
This paper presents a monopole plasma antenna suitable for mobile communications and wireless communications related applications ranging from 550MHz to 650MHZ. Plasma antenna is gaining more and more attention from the researchers and developers in telecommunications, radars and navigation related fields due to its beam forming, capacity to 'hide', its fast switching properties. In this project, the principle of plasma antenna is analyzed to come up with a highly efficient suitable design. The performance of the designed antenna was assessed through the bandwidth, the gains, the return of loss and radiation pattern obtained by running simulations on CST Studio Microwave tool.
