Paper Title
Four Quadrant Control Of DC Motor Using PIC Microcontroller
Abstract
This paper introduces a design methodology for a Type-E chopper for a DC motor using a PIC microcontroller. The design methodology follows the steps of simulation, circuit design, code building and testing and finally fabrication. The chopper controls the speed, direction of motion and braking of the dc motor. The speed control is achieved by four quadrant PWM control using PIC 18F2550. The simulation in MATLAB is the first step in the design process as based on the application parameters (angular velocity, torque) we can determine the ratings of the motor and the components. Henceforth, the circuit design can be done knowing the exact components to be used.
