Energy Security Solutions to Rural Problems
Abstract
The provision of electricity is a key component in the development of the country. In a country like India where 51% of the employment is in the rural sector through agriculture and animal husbandry, rural electrification is very much a requirement. In this paper, a survey on energy consumption pattern has been carried out in different sectors of domestic, agricultural and miscellaneous uses in a cluster of five villages, Mehboobnagar district, Andhra Pradesh, India. This paper discusses the current energy status and identifies few energy conservation opportunities (ECO). It also explores the potential of renewable energy systems for creating sustainable livelihood in rural areas.
