Paper Title
Micro-Finance Institutions and the Performance of the Informal Non Agricultural Sector in Cameroon

Abstract
The effect of micro-finance institutions (MFIs) on the informal non-agricultural sector is unclear in Cameroon. This study seeks to determine the contribution of financing by MFIs on the performance of the non-agricultural informal production units (IPU) in Cameroon. The methodology used for the impact analysis is based on matching methods that consider observable characteristics. It should be recalled that the main tool used to perform matching in this study is the propensity score. In order to take into account the heterogeneity of these IPU, we group them by sector of activity (trade, industry and services). We find that there is a direct relationship between the granting of financing and an increase in the performance of a production unit, the latter being about9.97%. It should be noted that there could exist a relationship between the unobserved elements affecting the analysis and the potential results on which future studies can focus. Key words - Informal sector, Micro-finance, performance, matching.
