The study on the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN): A Case Study of the Relationship between Thailand and Cambodia found that:
1. The relationship and disagreement between Thailand and Cambodia is based on the historical data and nationalism. Thailand and Cambodia are the members of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and are moving forward to become ASEAN Community with “One Vision, One Identity, and One Community” approach. This means that Thailand, Cambodia and the rest of ASEAN are following the economic war trend and an international integration. The future of ASEAN is to build the real unity in the community. In this respect, the border sovereignty and the nationality may be diminished. When the international political situation has been changed, the identity under the association must be ready in order to cope with a much closer cooperation. This can be achieved by cutting back the limitation on the hostility arising from the nationalism. Whenever the nation uses the history and the chauvinism to benefit itself, this will create a conflict between the two countries.
