Production and Spectroelectrochemical Investigation of a New Polymer: Poly(7-Phenylazo-3,8-Diaminobenzo [c] Cinnolin-5-Oxide)

Abstract
In this study, electro-polymerization and electrochromic characterization of 7-phenylazo-3,8-diaminobenzo [c] cinnolin-5-oxide monomer was firstly performed on indium tin oxide coated glass surface. Polymerization was carried out potentiodynamically by using multisweep cyclic voltammetric method in the tetrabutylammonium perchlorate-acetonitrile electrolyte-solvent system. Electrochemical preparation was performed in a dry oxygen-free nitrogen atmosphere. The effect of potential scan range, potential scan rate, number of cycles and monomer concentration was examined. The electrical conductivity of the produced polymer film was measured by a four-point conductivity measurement system. Electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical behavior of monomer and polymer were investigated by cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperomettry and UV-vis spectrophotometry methods. In addition, colorimetry studies of the produced polymer film was also performed. Index Terms - Benzo[c]cinnoline, Conductive Polymers, Electrochemical polymerization, Electrochromism.
