Development Of An Unsteady Computational Model For Laser Vaporization Of Soft Tissues

Abstract
A transient computational model is developed to simulate laser vaporization of tissue. The enthalpy method was employed and the resulting equations were numerically solved utilizing control volume method. The model was validated against a steady state analytical solution in terms of temperature profiles and vaporization velocity. Excellent agreement with the analytical solution was found. This model can be further developed and usedas a guiding tool for surgical planning in the future. Keywords - BPH, photoselective vaporization of prostate, laser, model
