Case Study For Screw Arrays Of TSE Polymer-Bimodal Particles Blending Process Using CFD

Abstract
Since there were no appropriate method for evaluating Lagrangian bimodal particles mixing, mixings of particles with continuous mixer have been evaluated in a roundabout way with Residence Time Distribution (RTD). Currently, Variance among Bimodal Bin Counts (VBBC) is introduced for evaluating Lagrangian bimodal particles mixing systems. In this research, VBBC is applied to evaluatepolymer-bimodal particles mixing processes with Twin Screw Extruder (TSE) by using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Six kinds of screw arrays are assumed which are consist of 515N, 515R, 515L block and conveying elements. They are evaluated in terms of bimodal particles mixing efficiency with same operating condition. As a result, the most effective array for polymer-bimodal particles mixing is suggested.
