The Participation of Temple in Tourism Management a Case Study: Bang PhiYainai Temple, Bang Phi District, Samutprakarn

Abstract
Changes of time and eras have led the society to alter its role, especially for the role of temples which are sacred places to anchor people’s spirits. The temples need to adjust its role in many ways, including the tourism trend which has become vital to human life. This research aimed to study changes of temples’ role and participation in managing tourism in the community. The research applied an in-depth interview in combination of synthetic research and qualitative research. The researcher divided the interview into three aspects, that is, participation, resources and management, and facility management. The experts in each aspect were divided into three groups, that is, Group 1: abbot, monks and staff in Bang Phi YaiNai Temple; Group 2: stores inside the temple area, community leaders and cooperative society; and Group 3: tourists visiting Bang Phi YaiNai Temple. According to the research result, participation in management was divided into three aspects, that is, participation, resources and management, and facility management. Future research may study guidelines to organize junior guide activities so that children acquire knowledge on tourist attraction in their community and highly value the local resources, including establish Bang Phi YaiNai temple tourism strategic plan as a model of religious tourism.
