Paper Title
Development of Colorimetric Detection System with Smartphone for Self-Monitoring Blood Glucose
Abstract
Frequently monitoring of glucose can reduce disease severities, secondary complications, related mortalities, and aid in maintaining the body’s insulin level. To provide a portable and convenient detect blood sugar conditions for diabetes patients is very important. In this study, an integrated blood glucose detection device (IBGDD) will be introduced that has none electronic part, and uses the optical sensing module of a smartphone to inspect the colorimetric blood strip. To demonstrate accuracy conformance to the ISO15197-2013 blood glucose meter test standard requirements, 120 diabetes mellitus patients have used the IBGDD with their smartphone to measure blood glucose. The accuracy from the clinical trials is 97.46%, and meets the ISO15197-2013 blood glucose meter test standard requirements completely. In this contribution, we demonstrate a special designed IBGDD with a smartphone can get high accuracy and convenience for the measurement of blood glucose concentration, and it could let diabetes patients achieve self-monitoring blood glucose management and mHealth in the future.
