The Implementation of Ecoliteracy Materials in Social Science Subject

Abstract
Ecoliteracy is a concern or awareness of environmental sustainability. Ecoliteracy needs to be instilled early in students so that in the future they are able to live in balance with the environment. This study aims to investigate the implementation of Ecoliteracy materials in social science subject and determinant factors of the implementation of Ecoliteracy materials in social science subject. This research is a descriptive qualitative research, which is a systematic and intensive data collection process to gain knowledge and information. Thus, in this research, the researchers observed and interacted with principals, vice principals of student affairs, social science teachers and junior high school students through interviews and data search through document review. The results of this research indicate that the implementation of Ecoliteracy materials in social science subject (1) only focuses on the cognitive aspect without taking into consideration the affective and psychomotor aspects comprehensively; (2) the implementation of ecoliteracyis not developed on any basic competence. Furthermore, the determinant factorsof the implementation of Ecoliteracy materials include (1) Teacher Competence, (2) Student, and (3) Curriculum. Keywords - Ecoliteracy, social science subject
