Paper Title
Relationship Between Genu-Valgum and Genu-Varum Deformities with Body Image in Non-Athletes Females

Abstract
Everyone has an attitude towards one’s own physical appearance and makes an image of one’s body in one’s mind which is named “body image” and is not necessarily related to the real appearance of the person, but is related with beliefs, thoughts, perceptions, and emotions of the person about one’s own physical appearance. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the interaction between body disorders and mind changes. However, enough attention has not been paid to this subject. Therefore, the objective of current research is to investigate the relationship between common disorders of the lower limb, including knee braces and knee valgus in one hand and body image on the other hand among non-athletes females. Methods:This is a descriptive-cross connectional research where 100 non-athletes women of age 25 to 30 participated in two groups of 50-person and each group has only one type of disorder, either knee braces, or knee valgus. Disorders were measured by caliper and body image was measured via Mendelssohn body image questionnaire. Results:Results showed that there were not any significant relationship between body image and knee braces (r=-0.24, P=0.08), and knee valgus (r=-0.23, P=0.09). Therefore it seems that correction of disorders which are less apparent has not significant impact on body image of people. However, other psychological factors, economical, occupational, cultural conditions and lots of other related factors in life should be considered and investigated.
