Modelling Link Between Energy Consumption And Economic Development: Empirical Evidence From Asian Countries

Abstract
The present study aims to examine the effect of energy use on economic development measured by real GDP per capita within in the production function framework for a group of 10 developing Asian economies between 1990 and 2014. Based on the nature of the data, appropriate estimation techniques encompasses fixed-effects estimator and Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares are used. The empirical estimates of both estimators reveal that energy has significantly positive impact on growth; therefore, energy is to be one of the important factors of production like human and physical capital.
