Global Optimization Analysis for Effect of Incertitude on Slope Reliability

Abstract
The parameters that must be introduced in the geotechnical calculations are often not well known, the impact of their incertitude on the reliability of the slopes is often significant. This work proposes a computer program based on global optimization by genetic algorithm to analyze slope stability problems that determining the failure surface, which corresponds to a minimum reliability index. Soil parameters considered as random variables normally distributed. A simple example of homogeneous slope is used to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed approach. The model results are then validated with comparison to the ones obtained with Slide v.5.0. code ©Rocscience, and those available in literature. The results have to highlight the interest of the proposed approach. Keywords- optimization method. Genetic algorithm. Reliability. Slide v.5.0. Slope stability.
