Political Decision-Making Processes and International Cooperation in the Colombian Peace Processq

Abstract
This paper aims to explain the strategies of the foreign policy agenda that are decisive in the political decision-making process that promote international cooperation and either lead to the signing of peace agreements, or not. It also seeks to answer the following question: “What were the strategies of the Colombian institutional actors to promote Colombian international cooperation in the peace process with the FARC-EP in 2012-2016?" The methodological approach of this research is qualitative and will use the methodology ofcase studies that will be organized using Process Tracing to analyse the political decision-making process of the agreements that shaped the nature of international public cooperation for peace. The research seeks to analyse peace dialogues by means of a pluralistic, inclusive and respectful approach, the intention being to result indelivering agreements aimed at promoting the communities’ wellbeing. It also intends to analyse the political role of the United Nations since the beginning of the negotiations until their post-agreement stage.
