Foreign Labour and Economic Growth: Evidence From mauritius

Abstract
The small island of Mauritius is a relatively new destination for contractual international labour migrants. This paper explores the spatial sensitivity of the effect of migration on Mauritian economy. For the purpose of the study, a Cobb-Douglas model is applied to investigate the impact of foreign labour on economic growth for Mauritius over the period 1990-2015. Both short-run and long-run elasticities are found to have a statistically insignificant impact. Keywords - Foreign workers, Cobb-Douglas, economic growth.
