A Study Of Relation Between Positive Leadership Of Principals Of Comprehensive Junior-Senior High Schools And The Effectiveness Of The Schools

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship among principal positive leadership and school effectiveness in Comprehensive Junior-Senior High Schools. Many kinds of education innovations are executed in Taiwan recently, including maker education, inquiry instructional strategy and creative teaching. These aim to enhance teacher professional developmen and student creativity. The key to education innovations is principal leadership. In this study, we hope to learn more about the relationships among principal positive leadership and school effectiveness of comprehensive junior-senior high schools. Questionnaire survey was used in this study. The questionnaire is based on relevant documents. The participants were Comprehensive Junior-Senior High Schools teachers in Taiwan. With stratified cluster sampling, a total of 600 questionnaires to 30 schools were distributed, and 442 valid questionnaires were retrieved with the response rate at 74%.Collecting data were analyzed with SPSS and AMOS for frequency distribution, percentage, average, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation, Multiple Regression and Structural Equation Modeling. The major findings of the study were as follows: 1. Comprehensive Junior-Senior High Schools teachers with different background variables mostly have significant differences in principal positive leadership and school effectiveness. 2. Principal positive leadership and school effectiveness in Comprehensive Junior-Senior High Schools had significant positive correlation. 3. Principal positive leadership had significant prediction for school effectiveness in Comprehensive Junior-Senior High Schools. 4. Structural equation model had a good adaptation of principal positive leadership, and school effectiveness in Comprehensive Junior-Senior High Schools. According to the above conclusions, some suggestions were proposed for teachers, principals, educational authorities, and future research.
