Three Point Bending Test Research Of Carbon Fibre Composites Incorporating Graphene And Nanoclay

Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate bending response of the carbon fiber/epoxy/graphen composite by adding the nanoclay 1 % and 3 % by weight. The generated matrix nanoclay/graphene/epoxy mixture to the 12 sheets carbon fiber was injected using vacuum infusion method. To get homogeneous distribution in matrix, graphene and nanoclay were mixed in epoxy using mechanical mixer and ultrasonic homogenizer respectively. The composites were subjected to three-point bending test. Test results revealed that amount of the nanoclay embedded in carbon fiber/epoxy/graphen composite has significant effect on bending properties. As amount of the nanoclay in matrix increases, the resistance to bending increases. Keywords - Graphene, Nanoclay, Carbon Fibre, Three-Point Bending Test.
