Mathematical Model Of Co2 Removal From Co2-N2 Gas Mixture At Elevated Pressure Using Hollow Fiber Membrane Contactor

Abstract
This study developed two-dimensional mathematical model for CO2 removal from gas mixture (40% CO2 in balance of N2) using hollow fiber membrane contactor. The model was validated with experimental data to determine wetting condition in membrane pores and compare between two different hollow fiber membranes, i.e. polyvinylidene-fluoride (PVDF) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The effects of pressure, gas flow rate, and liquid velocity on CO2 removal were analyzed. The model validation showed that the wetting was presented at 20 bar using PVDF. The results also indicated that CO2 removal increased with the increasing of pressure and liquid velocity whereas the decreasing of gas flow rate improved CO2 removal.
