Paper Title
Study of Single Pitch Roof Modification For Houses to The Reduction of Energy Consumption (Case Study: Kwitang - Jakarta, Indonesia)

Abstract
Densely populated areas oftentimes bring problems not only for the resident but also the government. Lack of information about a good quality of life depends on houses physical appearance mostly neglected by people who live in densely populated area. In this paper, we proposed a simple way to upgrade the quality of houses by doing some modifications of the roof. There are certainly many things could be maximized by modifying the roof slope, but we focus on single pitch roof as the modest choice for this area. In existing area, the use of flat roof in densely populated area had caused the houses to get the most potential resource from the sunlight during the day to illuminate most rooms inside. Otherwise the use of single pitch roof would carry out bigger portion for attaching windows to bring sunlight expose and air to circulate surround the house. Some slopes were examined in order to get the best illumination from the sunlight and thermal comfort to the house as well. The analysis of 10o slope modification brought about the best sunlight exposes and thermal comfort as well. By optimizing sunlight expose and air circulation during the day, the previous electricity usage of almost 24 could be more economical. Energy audit was taken as tools to quantify the result of energy efficiency by modifying the roof configuration varying in the slope degrees.
