Paper Title
The Leadership Capacities Of Aspiring And Beginning Principals

Abstract
A questionnaire consisting of 24 question items in six core areas of leadership was constructed and mailed to 204 aspiring and beginning principals who had completed a training program and were granted the Certificate for Principalship. Findings demonstrated that most of the respondents perceived that leadership capacities of ‘strategic direction and policy environment', and ‘quality assurance and accountability' were more useful and applicable to their leadership positions in school than those of the areas of ‘teacher professional growth and development', ‘external communication and connection to the outside world', ‘learning, teaching and curriculum', and ‘staff and resources management’ Keywords- Aspiring and Beginning Principals, Educational Management, School Leadership, Hong Kong
