How To Manage Generation Y – Motivation Perspective In Taiwan

Abstract
Gen Y is the youngest and newest workforce in business. Their unique characteristics and motivators became a managerial challenge in organizations. Plus, current economic depression and multigenerational workforce environment is also more complex than the year they were born, the changing business and economic environment have impacted the working attitude of Gen Y. This study aimed to discover Gen Y characteristics and motivators in Taiwan from both supervisors’ and employees’ perspectives. To fulfill the study’s purpose, in-depth and semi-structured interviews were conducted to gather data from 3 supervisor and 2 employees in different organizations from different industries. Finally, this study offers the conclusion and practical suggestions for both supervisors and employees in their current workplace. Keywords- Gen Y, Characteristics, Motivation
