REVIEW: HYBRID INTELLIGENCE APPROACHES TO DIVERSE SCIENTIFIC FRONTIERS AT NANO, MICRO, MILLIMETER, AND THE EARTH

Abstract
Abstract - This paper reviews the recent advances in hybrid intelligence approach and its applications to scientific and engineering frontiers. The hybrid intelligence consists of human intelligence and artificial intelligence to tackle complex physics problems facing challenges of small data, complex multiple physics and their interaction, and the absence of known first principle. The human intelligence provides insights, basic physics knowledge, and even creativity whereas artificial intelligence provides powerful computation and rule-searching capabilities. The applications span diverse frontiers of wide length scales – nano, micro, meter, and the Earth. This paper offers a summary about the notable achievement at the intersection of physics and artificial intelligence communities. Keywords - Rule-Learning, Transparent Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Hybrid Intelligence.
