The Roles of Social Institutions on the Political Socialization of the Youth in Saraburi Province

Abstract
This research aimed to study the role of social institutionssuch as family institution, group of friend, educational institution as well as mass media which significantly impacted on the political socialization of the youth in Saraburi province. The research was a qualitative research from an analysis of case study by method of purposive sampling which taking in-depth interview. The key-informants were School administrators, Social Science teachers and parents. This research was also analyzed by group discussion of the focus groups. The purposive samples are junior high school studentswho attended the group and discussed todebate the issues and provide information. After summarized the information, the researchers have taken Hermeneuticstechnique for data analysis and conclusion. The study found that family institution and educational institutionare significantly impacted on political socialization to the youth by informal talking in the family andsubjects in social learning groups. However, it was not impacted by groups of friend and mass media due to the interest of the youth to receive information from the media about political issues is very low, and there is no political issues found in conversation among friends.
