INTRA-ARTERIAL PRE-IMPLANTATION OF COVERED STENTCOMBINED WITH SURGICAL RESECTION FOR RECURRENT TONSILLAR SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA: A CASE REPORT

Abstract
Abstract - Tonsillar squamous cell carcinoma is a primary malignant tumor in oropharynx. Surgery combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy is the main treatment. Especially if the mouth is limited after radiotherapy, local reexamination becomes difficult, and early recurrence is not easy to be found.Meanwhile, due to the anatomical particularity of tonsil area, reoperation is very difficult. If the carotid artery is surrounded or involved, the surgery is more difficult, vascular ligation and reconstruction must be considered. However, these two methods may lead to serious brain complications.Intra-arterial covered stent is another ideal choice to protect artery during surgery. Without blocking the arterial blood flow, it can completely strip the artery from the surrounding scar tissue or tumor, so as to effectively avoid serious brain complications.
