Paper Title
Finite Difference Modeling Of An Urban Underground Road In Rouen, France

Abstract
Predicting excavation performance in dense populated urban areas is critically important. This paper presents a 2D numerical modeling of a monitored urban underpass consisting of diaphragm wall supported by one row of steel struts and a cover slab in the central part. The work is located in Rouen (France). The data collected during all the construction phases are used as a basis for a numerical back-analysis using the finite difference code FLAC. This study has been undertaken with the aim of understanding the behavior of in situ walls and provides insights concerning the effects on wall performance of some components of an in situ wall system.
