Paper Title
Study of Iron Status in Children with Febrile Seizures

Abstract
Febrile seizures are the most common form of childhood seizures. Febrile seizures are most common between the ages of 6 months and 5 years, with peak incidence at 18 months of age. They occur in 2% to 5% of children below 5 years of age. The aim was to study the iron status in children presenting with febrile seizures. Children of age group between 6 month to 5 years having fever with seizures (temperature > 38ÂșC) were included in study.Analysis of Serum Iron &Serum Ferritin level were done in each subject.A total of 105 subjects were enrolled in the study. The study suggests that iron deficiency is more common in children with febrile seizures.Early detection and replenishment of ferritin stores by iron therapy, thus timely correcting plasma ferritin level may be helpful in prevention of febrile seizure in children.
