Islamic Citizenship among Students in the State of Kuwait

Abstract
Developing the characteristics of citizenship especially among the new generation plays an important role on the future socio, economic and political development of the countries. It can be said that the quality of the people in the country can be considered from the current teenagers’ citizenship. Therefore, the main objective of this research was to investigate the level of citizenship among high school students and the university students in the State of Kuwait. In addition, this study aimed at comparing the level of citizenship according to the student characteristics such as gender, the level of education. The sample included in this study selected by the two-stage random sampling consisted of 524 high schools students and 423 undergraduate students. The self-administered questionnaire was utilized as a research tool in this study for data collection. The data was analysed by using mean, standard deviation (SD), independent-sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance including the post-hoc comparison. The findings indicated that the student has the high level of Islamic citizenship in all components (equality, morality, ethics, respect to others, social responsibility, and religious coherence). Moreover, the finding showed that female students has the higher level in all components than the male students.
