Paper Title
The Potential of Pterygoplichthys Pardalis from Ciliwung River as the Alternative Source of Protein

Abstract
Pterygoplichthys pardalis is a type of fish which population dominates in the Ciliwung River in Indonesia. Some communities around the river use P. pardalis as raw material to make processed food products such as dumplings, fleshballs, fish cakes to crackers because the price is relatively cheaper and easier to obtain. However, there is still no information that explains the protein, fat, and carbohydrate content of P. pardalis flesh from Ciliwung River, Jakarta Indonesia. Therefore it is necessary to conduct research to see the potential of the plecos as an alternative source of animal protein for the community. The method used consists of Kjeldahl’s methods to test the protein content, the extraction method to test fat, and by-difference method to test carbohydrates by previously testing the ash using the dry ashing method. P. Pardalis flesh has high protein content, low fat and carbohydrate content. In conclusion, P. pardalis in the Ciliwung River has the potential as an alternative source of animal protein for the community around the river because it is classified as fish with high protein content and low fat content, therefore it is good for general consumption.
