The Impact of Social Entrepreneurial Orientation towards Intentions of Social Entrepreneurs: The Evidence from Thailand

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of social entrepreneurial orientation (SEO) towards social entrepreneurial intention (SEI) of youth in Thailand. Social enterprise has emerged as a solution for a more sustainable economic growth in response to widespread social, economic and environmental problems caused by capitalism. In Thailand, at present, social enterprise start-up scene is booming. A new batch of young entrepreneurs is looking to create businesses that, instead of creating maximum profit for individuals, address social problems and generate income for those who need it most. However, most of existing entrepreneurial intention researches in Thailand do not focuses on the scope of social entrepreneurial orientations and intentions. This study attempts to enhance the body of knowledge in understanding motivation behind social entrepreneurial intention. Survey research was used in this study. 178 samples of Thai undergraduate students were collected with questionnaires as a research tool. The results showed that social entrepreneurial orientation significantly affect social entrepreneurial intention of youths. Female students have significantly higher social entrepreneurial intention than male students. Household income level also significantly affects the level of social entrepreneurial intention.
