Beginning of an Energy Efficient Era: A Review

Abstract
Economy and semiconductor sales progresslike a classical sine wave due to intermittent recessions. Since semiconductor devices have intruded so much into the human life and acting as a necessity these days therefore consumption of such devices seems to be free fromthe economic cycles, but unexpectedly the boom-or-bust cycleof the economy has a direct impact one the growth rate of the semiconductor industry.Moor’s rule has been a golden rule in the semiconductor industry and even after 50 years it is still leaving an impact on economy, technology and society. It is also expected that possible extinction of Moore’s law in near future may slow the boom ofsemiconductor industry. Most of the modern industries are undergoing a transformation and shifting towards an Energy Efficient Era. Semiconductor industry is of them and rigorously working to evolve energy efficient products by means of unconventional designs and materials. Future applications are more complex and therefore innovations beyond imaginations are more likely to happen in the semiconductor industry. Despite several design, material and implementation issues in developing modern devices to meet out the complex demands of industrial and commercial sectors, innovative class of people hasbeen able to get closer to the success by transforming challenges into opportunities to attain the sustainable growth.
