Paper Title
Teachers' Teaching Techniques and the Problem of Mathematical Problems among Students in the Year 5

Abstract
This study aims to determine the level of problem solving ability among Standard Five students based on Polya’s Model. The sample consists of 5 students from a primary school in Jasin District, Malacca ,selected using purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was a written test in Mathematics .Data were analyzed using Clustered Column graph. The result showed that the students have the ability to understand problem, but the ability to plan, execute and write are low. This study gives evidence that high Mathematics achievement in public examinations does not guarantee a high level of ability in solving non-routine problems. The administration of the school and teachers should always plan new techniques and teaching methods that help produce students who are able to solve problems critically and creatively.
