Individualism and Collectivism Attitude Analysis of International Students in Turkey

Abstract
Individualist and collectivist attitude studies are the subject of a unique place in scientific studies especially in the 1960s in order to reveal the social, cultural and economic differences of societies. In general, industrialized western society exhibits individualist characteristics according to the attitudes that were interpreted before and after the industrial revolution, while the collectivist attitude comes to the fore in less developed and developing countries. One of the main determinants of this attitude is the environment in which an individual life in his own country and the education he / she receives. According to this, increasing the level of complexity of societies and the expansion of freedom cause an individualistic attitude. But the collectivist attitude is simple and embracing. According to Hofstede (2006) research, individualism increases as the level of education and income level of the person increases. While the individualist focuses on the individual, the collectivist individual develops a social-centered self-concept.
