The “Need” and The “Experience” of Self-Determination: Their Effects on Mastery Experience in A Creativity Game-Based Learning

Abstract
This study aimed at exploring the dynamic relationship among self-determination needs, self-determination experience, flow experience, and mastery experience. An experimental instruction implemented through a creativity game-based learning program was conducted to achieve this goal. Eighty-two 3rd and 4th graders participated in this study. The results suggest that the real experience of SD after game playing can better predict pupils’ achievement of mastery experience of creativity than the needs of SD before the game playing. Moreover, SD can increase flow experience and, further, enhance mastery experience in the creativity game-based learning. Keywords - Flow Experience, Game-Based Learning, Mastery Experience, Self-Determination.
