A Higher-Order Numerical Scheme for Shallow Water Magneto-Hydrodynamics Equations

Abstract
This work presents fourth-order conservation element solution element method for one-dimensional shallow water magnetohydrodynamics model. The method is based on unified treatment of spatial and temporal dimensions contrary to finite difference and finite volume method. Moreover the schemes is developed using the conservative formulation and do not require change in source term for treating the degenerate hyperbolic nature of shallow water magnetohydrodynamics system. The accuracy and robustness of extended method is tested by applying to benchmark test from the literature.
