Proposed Learning Management Platform: Educational Strategic Choice

Abstract
The advancement of technology drastically changed the landscape of educational institutions since learners nowadays are more engaged in using technology. One of which is the implementation and adaptation of Learning Management System (LMS) that provides seamless communication between the learners and the educators, thus making the learning environment more accessible, convenient, relevant, and competitive. This study aims to discover the pertinent features of an LMS which will be beneficial towards the efficiency of instructional activities being done by an institution. The study reviewed fifteen (15) Open Source LMS from existing research studies and firsthand experiences of the users. Grounded on reviews conducted, the study revealed that the 15 studied LMS have fourteen (14) commonalities and thirteen (13) unique features among each other. These identified features were evaluated by faculty and students, summing up to 80 respondents. Based on the results, the evaluators marked an average score of 4.27 weighted mean in both common and unique features. The identified features that marked the highest relevance are the “Assignment, Quizzes and Test” and “Grade Sheet” with a sore of 4.6 weighted mean while the “Completion Tracking” as a unique feature notably marked a 4.52 weighted mean. With these results, the study directed towards the recommendation of the topmost priority when it comes to LMS features which will respond to the needs of both educators and learners. The study suggests the integration of all the diverse and unique features that were found in the other existing LMS to better meet the demands of 21st century learning.
