Causes of First and Second Degree Burn in Children from Age 1 – 5

Abstract
The is a descriptive study in which a questionnaire was used as a tool of investigation. The questionnaire consisted of three groups of questions. First, the socio-demographic characteristics of the parents or caregivers and the burned child, such as, sex, age, nationality, area of residence, educational level, number of children in the family and the child's sibling position were studied. The second group of questions covered characteristics of burn, causes of burns, time of the burn, and the child's activity at the time of the burn. The third group of questions included the mother's knowledge about first aid for a burn. Data was collected during November and December 1993 and a total 155 questionnaire were distributed for completion to 15 polyclinic's in five health regions and the Burn Centre, Ibn Sina Hospital. One hundred and nine or (109) or 70.3% of the questionnaire were returned for data analysis. Keyword - Burn, First, Second degree, Scalds.
