The Corporate Governance and SMES in Jordan

Abstract
This paper conclude SMEs in Jordan face a number of obstacles are a similar in developing or developed countries, these obstacles including lack of sophisticated management, production, and marketing skills; Lack of access to domestic and external financing; Lack of business planning. High standards of corporate governance and ethics is becoming a critical element of success, particularly the SME sector considered a critical factor for job creation, poverty reduction, wealth creation.The main underlying constraint to growth of SMEs is a lack of awareness among SMEs regarding significance of corporate governance. The government has to strengthen the laws by providing guidance to SMEs on issues related to corporate governance. It should also forge linkages with academia and industry to develop and disseminate policy-oriented research since there is more research work needed on corporate governance for SMEs from the perspective of developing countries.
