Paper Title
Super Critical Fluid Extraction Of Active Ingredient From Marjoram (Origanum Marjorana) Herb

Abstract
An experimental set-up was constructed for the supercritical extraction of active ingredients using marjoram herb (Origanum marjorana). Carbon dioxide was used as a supercritical solvent, while ethanol was used as a trapping agent for the extract. Effects of operating conditions such as temperature, pressure and particle size were investigated. The extracted active ingredients has been identified and analyzed using GC-MS chromatography. The results showed that supercritical fluid extraction is a selective extraction and the parameter examined showed a noticeable effect on the herb extract obtained; there is an optimum condition to extract certain compounds and generally, temperature showed an inverse effect on the extraction yield. Keywords - Supercritical extraction, CO2, Serge, Ethanol.
