The Anatomy of HR Practice: A Must-Do Reality Check Amid Business Downturn

Abstract
There are several reasons why business starts to downturn at first and later nosedives. Is that because companies lack in latest technology, or newest tools, or the hefty investments, or the intense competition, or the key location? Apparently not! Primarily, they are crushed by their own people, leadership team, systems, insane practices and processes which failed to measure their business environment and take the right steps at the right time. Companies with faulty HR practices or HR policies just-on-papers only to gratify their regulatory bodies are doomed to vanish someday as such unethical practices will not last longer and gradually make their employees disengaged and rebellious. The objective is to analyze and substantiate various real time cases and studies, and to suggest constructive strategies in this regard. As Richard Branson quote reads “Clients do not come first Employees come first. If you take care of your employees, they will take care of the clients”; with this wisdom, amid business downturn, company’s first focus must be HR department. They must anatomize their HR practices, conduct fact & reality checks, amend necessary gaps and positively address employees’ issues before situation gets out of their control.
