Mechanical and Thermal Behaviour of Carbon Nanotubes Filled Polybutylene Teraphthalate (PBT)/ Polymethyl Methacrylate(PMMA) Blends

Abstract
In the present work Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT)/ Polymethyl-methacrylate (PMMA) / MWNT ternary blend nanocomposites were prepared by twin screw extruder. There is a significant improvement in mechanical properties by the addition of 2.5(wt %) MWNT in the PBT/PMMA blends. Properties such as tensile strength, tensile modulus, flexural strength and modulus were studied. There results were then compared with the PBT/MWNT system. There was propounding effect to be observed on PBT nanocomposites due to uniform dispersion MWNT. Thermal analysis is carried out using differential scanning colorimetry which shows improved glass transition temperature (Tg) and degree of crystallinity.
