Hard Skills and Soft Skills for Pilots in The Aviation Sector

Abstract
Hard skills and soft skills are important during the recruitment process and worklife. Hard skills include level of education, proficiency of foreign languages, having certificates about computer programmes, and so on. Soft skills include motivation, patience, problem solving abilities, time management, team work, communication, and so on. The purpose of this research is to explain pilots’ hard skills and soft skills, and also to compare them. The research is valuable because pilots’ skills affect flight security. In this research, the literature review is made and the research is explained with related cases in the cockpit. It was applied to articles, news and videos about pilots for this research. According to the results from the analysis, it was determined that hard skills are necessary for pilots. However, soft skills are also at least as important as hard skills.
